No public servant should be able to buy and sell stocks of the companies they’re supposed to hold accountable—and they should never be able to profit from inside knowledge.

I’m angry that as many families struggled to pay for food and rent during the pandemic, some Washington politicians used their positions for profit.

What they did was wrong, and we should put an end to it.

That’s why I’ve sponsored legislation to do just that—it’s called the TRUST in Congress Act, and it bans members of Congress from buying or selling individual stocks while in office.

It requires members of Congress—as well as their spouses and dependent children—to place assets like securities, commodities and futures, into a qualified blind trust. No member of Congress should ever forget who they work for: You.
