This afternoon, Rep. Greg Stanton joined Republicans and Democrats to vote for a short-term funding package to keep the federal government open. He released the following statement following the vote:
“Our most urgent and basic duty as lawmakers is to keep the federal government open and working for the people we serve.
This continuing resolution also does not include desperately needed border security funding to help overwhelmed Arizona communities–funding I have called for again and again. It does not include funding to support our ally Ukraine in their fight against Putin’s illegal, unjust and brutal war. As the appropriations process continues, I will continue to fight for these and other Arizona priorities.
But leadership means compromise. And an unnecessary shutdown would devastate Arizona families, businesses and our economy. For those reasons, I voted yes.”
