Arizona is one of the fastest growing states, and as a former mayor of Phoenix and the current Vice Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know that improving all forms of transportation will make Arizonans’ lives better--and it’s great for business too.
That’s why I was so proud to work on the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—a once in a generation investment to improve our roadways, airports, public transit, and more. I won’t stop working to leverage this legislation for the East Valley, whether it’s heading to Sky Harbor, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway or Valley Metro.
I’m focused on growing Arizona’s clean energy transit options--expanding the Rio East-Dobson Streetcar and securing $2.3 million for an on-demand public transportation service in the East Valley that will target areas with little to no regular public transit service.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Energy today advanced by voice vote a bill introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton and Rep. Marc Veasey of Texas to reauthorize and increase funding for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
The block grant program provides grants to states, local governments, and Indian tribes to assist efforts to reduce fossil fuel emissions and conserve energy. The bill, H.R. 2088, would reauthorize the program and provide it with $3.5 billion annually for the next five years.
WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Federal Aviation Administration's acting administrator today acknowledged that pilots of Boeing's 737 MAX airplanes were "absolutely" not given adequate training on the plane's software system before the new jet was permitted to fly.

Arizona tribes thin on broadband, struggle with lagging technology

Carroll Onsae says it's a joke among Hopi, who have broadband internet in only some pockets of the reservation. And even there it works slowly.
"Our area is economically disadvantaged. It's a hardship for families to not have service to broadband services," said Onsae, general manager of Hopi Telecommunications Inc.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-The U.S. House of Representatives today passed H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, to ensure the U.S. honors commitments detailed in the Paris Agreement. The bill also calls on the President to develop a national plan to reduce pollution on track with the goals set in Paris in 2015.
