WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Greg Stanton (D-AZ), Ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management, and Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today led a new letter signed by 12 Democratic Members of Congress urging President Trump to immediately fire Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator David Richardson, citing a damning Government Accountability Office (GAO) report finding FEMA violated federal law six times under Secretary Noem.

Today, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced that the Federal Railroad Administration approved the first step of the Corridor Identification and Development Program for the proposed Phoenix-Tucson Intercity Passenger Rail. Stanton-the only Arizona member of the House Infrastructure and Transportation Committee-secured $500,000 in federal funding in 2023 for the planning process used to develop a scope, schedule, and cost estimate for the service. WASHINGTON - U.S. Representatives Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) and Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) are urging House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to extend the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane Exemption for interstate highways. For years, electric vehicle drivers in Arizona have been allowed to use the HOV lane solo, but the exemption is due to expire September 30, 2025.

The Interactive Federal Review Act would direct the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to select a minimum of ten federal highway projects to demonstrate the use of interactive, digital, cloud-based platforms to speed up the environmental analysis and community engagement processes required in FHWA projects.
