PHOENIX—Through his "Valentine's for Vets" initiative, now in its 5th year, Rep. Greg Stanton delivered more than 1,000 cards hand-made by Mesa Public Schools students to veterans at the Arizona State Veteran Home on Monday.
"These are love letters to our veterans," Stanton said after the visit. "It teaches these young people to have appreciation for our veterans."
Mesa will be installing electric car chargers in eight new locations across the city. The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Mesa more than $11 million for car charging stations. The city's grant is the majority of the $13 million awarded to the state.
Cochise County and the San Carlos Apache Reservation will receive more than a million dollars for new chargers.

PHOENIX - After weeks of closure, it appears a crossing along the Arizona portion of the U.S. - Mexico Border will reopen.
In a statement, officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that the Lukeville Port of Entry will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Jan. 4. At the same time, officials announced the reopening of three other border crossings on the same day:
