WASHINGTON, D.C.-After months of Rep. Greg Stanton working with the House Judiciary Committee, today a bill advanced with unanimous Committee support to make Arizona's judicial system more accessible to residents in the northern and southwestern parts of the state.

Rep. Tom O'Halleran introduced H.R. 1569 earlier this year to amend the U.S. code to allow both Flagstaff and Yuma to hold district court proceedings. It has the support of every member of the Arizona delegation.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton yesterday introduced a House Resolution that stresses the economic importance of the U.S. trade relationship with Mexico and opposes President Trump's threat to impose tariffs on goods from Mexico. Stanton's resolution, H.Res. 433, responds directly to President Trump's claims that imposing tariffs on imports from Mexico is a viable economic strategy.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton will introduce a House Resolution next Monday to oppose President Trump's plan to impose a tariff starting at 5 percent on all goods from Mexico.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, a 5 percent tariff on Mexico's goods could create a tax increase of $17 billion for American consumers.

"It's easy to understand why there is so much bipartisan opposition to the President's plan," said Stanton. "This tariff amounts to a massive tax increase that only hurts Arizona businesses, workers and consumers."

WASHINGTON – The House voted mostly on party lines Tuesday to approve a bill that would protect millions of "Dreamers" from deportation and give them a pathway to citizenship, a bill Republicans said would only lead to more illegal immigration.

Just seven Republicans crossed the aisle to vote for the bill, which passed Tuesday evening on 237-187 vote. The vote from Arizona's delegation was even more cleanly partisan, with all five Democrats supporting the bill and all four Republicans opposing.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill that aims to give up to 2.5 million undocumented immigrants a pathway to U.S. citizenship.

The legislation – a top priority for the Democratic majority – would offer protections for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and others who are currently without permanent legal status.

H.R. 6, called the "American Dream and Promise Act," passed on largely partisan lines by a vote of 237-187. Seven Republicans broke ranks to side with Democrats to support the bill.

PHOENIX – One Arizona congressman said the American Dream and Promise Act was "right" and "smart." Another called it "disastrous."

As could be expected, local reaction to Tuesday's vote on the HR 6 immigration bill was split along party lines.

Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton spoke on the floor in favor of the legislation before the House approved it by a 237-187 margin.

Despite what party leaders say, ordinary people care about Trump's lawbreaking.

Until quite recently, Democratic House leaders justified their refusal to begin an inquiry into impeaching Donald Trump by saying that it wasn't something their rank-and-file voters cared about. "I can tell you I never hear somebody bring up the Mueller report," Representative Cheri Bustos, chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said in Chicago last month.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the last month, Rep. Greg Stanton has taken action on a number of bipartisan initiatives to deliver results for veterans on suicide prevention, transition assistance and homelessness. On May 21, the House unanimously passed nine bills to support veterans-those measures will now move to the Senate.

PHOENIX-Rep. Greg Stanton, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the House opening an impeachment inquiry:

It is time for the House of Representatives to move to the next stages of holding the President accountable, including the extraordinary step of opening an impeachment inquiry. This is a conclusion I reached only recently, and not one I reached lightly.
