WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton today called on members of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis to take bold action to help Arizona confront rising temperatures, increased forest fires, prolonged drought and vulnerable water supplies.
Stanton cited that Arizona is the third fastest-warming state in the country, with temperatures up 3.2 degrees since 1970. In Tucson and Phoenix, temperatures have risen 4.5 and 4.4 degrees, respectively, making them the third and fourth fastest-warming cities in America.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton advocated for Arizona businesses that rely on the Export-Import Bank today on the House floor ahead of a vote on H.R. 4863, which would reauthorize the bank for the next 10 years. Stanton is a cosponsor of the bill.
WASHINGTON-A bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton and Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., to permanently extend security protection of Supreme Court Justices outside the Supreme Court grounds earned unanimous support from the U.S. House today.
Current law authorizes the Supreme Court Police to protect Justices-however, the authority to protect them outside of Supreme Court grounds is temporary and set to expire at the end of this year. Stanton and Steube's bill, H.R. 4258, would remedy that by permanently extending the security authorization.
PHOENIX-In honor of Veterans Day, Rep. Greg Stanton recorded the oral history of a local U.S. Army World War II veteran for the Library of Congress. Stanton interviewed 99-year-old Maj. Stanton met with Maj. McClendon this weekend in her Tempe home to hear first-hand about her experience being deployed to Europe to process mail sent to the troops.
WASHINGTON-A bill introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton advanced through the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee today with unanimous support. The bill, H.R. 3521, would help grow an in-demand sector of Arizona's workforce: wastewater management workers.
"Arizona's economy relies on effective and well-managed wastewater treatment and stormwater management programs," said Stanton, a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. "We need more trained workers to properly operate our wastewater systems, and to protect public health and our environment."
PHOENIX-Rep. Greg Stanton's office has returned more than $1.1 million in federal benefits to residents of Arizona's ninth congressional district so far this year. The freshman member's casework team has had a busy first nine months, working with more than 200 constituents on a wide range of issues, from immigration status to veterans benefits to Social Security payments.
Providing exceptional service is always top of mind, Stanton says.
WASHINGTON-Rep. Greg Stanton today issued the following statement regarding the passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings:
I have only been in Congress for nine months, but watching Elijah Cummings at work will have a lifetime impact on me. He spoke with such moral authority, not just because of his oratory skills, but because he was decent and fair, and a tireless champion for the less fortunate and the enduring ideals that make America great. His passing is a tremendous loss for Maryland, the House of Representatives and our entire nation.
