In her little more than a year in the Senate, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has established herself as one of the chamber's most reserved members with a political brand based on cross-party collaboration, not confrontation.

A big part of the Sinema mystique has been that less is more, at least when it has come to speaking to the media and weighing in on hot-button news developments and controversies.

But the alarming spread of the new coronavirus prompted Sinema to directly take on Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey in a public way over the state's response to pandemic.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. House early Saturday morning approved an emergency stimulus package to combat the coronavirus pandemic after President Donald Trump signaled his support for the bill.

However, Trump's support wasn't enough to sway Arizona Republican Reps. Andy Biggs and Debbie Lesko, both of whom voted against the measure.

The multi-billion dollar package aims to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by a new coronavirus, and mitigate its economic effects as fears of recession loom.

More than 50 years after the last above-ground atomic bomb was detonated at the Nevada Test Site, lawmakers are trying to ensure that more Nevadans exposed to nuclear radiation receive compensation.

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., and Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz., introduced a bill Friday, the Downwinders Parity Act, that would expand the "affected area" as defined by the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). Signed into law in 2000, RECA is the existing means by which those who developed illnesses from nuclear radiation exposure can apply for government compensation.
