Air Force One was wheels-up at 3:11 p.m. as President Donald Trump left Phoenix.
Danielle Leoni is a chef without a restaurant. But her work is far from done.
A month ago, Leoni and her partner Dwayne Allen closed their Caribbean restaurant in downtown Phoenix, The Breadfruit and Rum Bar, for an indefinite time. Switching to takeout brought too few customers to keep their employees paid and lights on.
They wasted little time.
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS5) -- Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and other airports around Arizona can expect to get some financial relief during this COVID-19 crisis, thanks to the "CARES Act." CARES stands for "Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security."
The act will provide $224 million in emergency funds or Arizona airports. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was awarded $147,883,988. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport was awarded $20,530,276. And Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport will receive $18,134,294. Smaller airports around the state will also get relief aid.
"Our healthcare workers are fighting COVID-19 every day to keep Arizonans safe, and they need our help," said Rep. Greg Stanton. "It was a top priority when we passed the CARES Act to ensure our hospitals and health care providers would get the funding they need to tackle this pandemic. These dollars are going to reach Arizona's health care providers and be put to work right away."
