I’ve introduced a bill to ban Members of Congress from trading and holding individual stocks, so we can rebuild Americans’ trust that our government is working for the people, not politicians’ financial gain.
And when we were heading towards an unnecessary and potentially devastating government shutdown that would have put hundreds of Arizonans’ paychecks on hold, I called on House leadership to advance federal government funding legislation and supported bipartisan legislation to avoid catastrophic default and raise the debt ceiling.

WASHINGTON – Arizona lawmakers vowed to fight the loss of any funding at Luke Air Force Base, where up to $40 million in construction projects could be tapped for border wall funding under President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration.
Pentagon officials have not said where they plan to get the $3.6 billion the president wants redirected toward the wall, but Luke projects are among the $8.2 billion in the military construction budget for this fiscal year, according to data released by the House Appropriations Committee.

Stanton, D-Ariz., said on Sunday that Trump's border emergency plan puts at risk $40 million in construction projects, including a new aircraft maintenance facility.

The Administration's plan calls for diverting funds from FY 2019 military construction projects "under a little-known statute that allows the defense secretary to undertake military construction projects 'not otherwise authorized by law' when they are in support of troops deployed in a national emergency."

The government shutdown impacted 800,000 federal workers across the country and had an $11 billion impact on our economy according to the Congressional Budget Office.
