FY25 Appropriations Funding Requests

Listed below is a summary of the 15 projects Congressman Stanton submitted to the House Appropriations Committee for FY 2025, along with each project's recipient, requested amount, and required financial disclosure letter. In compliance with House Rules and Committee requirements, Congressman Stanton has certified that he, his spouse, and his immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects he has requested.

Project Name: Gunshot Detection Technology

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the City of Mesa, would purchase gunshot detection technology, outdoor acoustic networked sensors that would be placed throughout the focus areas on buildings and telephone poles, to accurately detect and locate the origin of gunshots. This will allow law enforcement to get to areas of crime activity quickly and save lives.

Project Description and Explanation: Arizona will have more than $15 billion in drinking water and wastewater infrastructure needs over the next two decades, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers.  These funds would help cities, counties, and tribal governments in Arizona meet their water and wastewater infrastructure demands.

Project Name: Kyrene Recharge Well Pipelines

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the City of Tempe, would be used to construct pipelines to deliver reclaimed water from the Kyrene Reclamation Facilities to recharge wells. This will increase the amount of water stored in aquifers, and will allow water supplies to meet the city's needs.

Project Name: Sewer Pipe Inspection and Replacement Program

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the City of Tempe,  would be used for construction of a grade-separated crossing, an underpass, at one of the highest pedestrian volume intersections in the City of Tempe. This increases safety and transit efficiency.

Project Name: Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and Charging Stations
Recipient: Kyrene School District
Address: 8700 S. Kyrene Rd., Tempe, AZ 85284

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the Kyrene School District,  would allow the school district to charge their 50 fleet vehicles that are used by employees on a day-to-day basis to travel back and forth from the district’s 25 school locations, saving costs and bettering air quality.

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the City of Mesa, would be used to replace failing large-diameter water meters in a lower-income area of central Mesa and relocation of those facilities above ground. It will allow the City to detect unusual consumption to identify leaks, resulting in significant water waste reduction, cost savings, and system reliability for commercial/industrial customers.

Project Description and Explanation: These funds, requested by the City of Tempe,  would be used for construction of bike and pedestrian improvements providing for the direct and continuous connection of three regional off-street paths that all converge in Tempe. It is critical for safety and good for efficient non-car travel in a dense city area where students and families work, study, and visit small businesses.

These funds provide needed upgrades to our fire stations to allow our firefighters to better serve the community. Arizona is battling ongoing drought and wildfires, and this would benefit residents in a rapidly growing area of Phoenix.
