PHOENIX—Arizona Congressmen Greg Stanton, Ruben Gallego and Tom O’Halleran will host a virtual Service Academy Day on Tuesday, June 2 at 2 p.m. MST. Students, parents and educators interested in learning more about the admissions process and the Congressional nomination requirements can pre-register for the event at bit.ly/azacademyday.

Congressional staff and representatives from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will present details about the application process and be available to answer questions.

“Each year, it’s heartening to see so many young leaders in Arizona pursue their goal to serve this country, starting at one of our prestigious military academies,” Stanton said. “It was an honor to nominate students for their top choice academy and to hear about their acceptances this spring. I hope students take advantage of this incredible opportunity to hear from admissions officers directly.”

“As a veteran it’s always an honor to assist bright and accomplished students who wish to serve our country in the armed forces. This year, it’s even more commendable that young folks are choosing this path during an uncertain time that is likely to require more resilience and stronger leadership from those who serve,” said Gallego.

“It is an honor to nominate young Arizonans for appointment to U.S. service academies every year,” said O’Halleran. “I commend the hardworking students considering the admirable path of serving their country in these uncertain times."
