PHOENIX (AP) - Two Arizona Democrats in Congress are calling for President Donald Trump to be impeached.
Reps. Greg Stanton and Ruben Gallego on Tuesday went far beyond their prior support for an impeachment inquiry. Both Phoenix Democrats now say Congress should impeach Trump to defend the rule of law.
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Arizona Congressman and former Phoenix mayor Greg Stanton released a statement early Tuesday afternoon calling for President Donald Trump's impeachment.
Stanton, who served as Phoenix mayor from 2012 to 2018, cited a "mountain of credible evidence" in his statement he published on his Twitter account. Stanton's statement comes just hours before Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would begin formal impeachment proceedings against the president.

The Arizona Supreme Court has ruled the City of Phoenix cannot apply its LGBT-inclusive Human Rights Ordinance to penalize a local business for refusing to make custom-made invitations for a same-sex wedding, delivering a victory for groups seeking to justify anti-LGBT discrimination in the name of "religious freedom."
PHOENIX - Valley political figures reacted Monday to the Arizona Supreme Court ruling that a Phoenix business can refuse to create custom wedding invitations for same-sex couples.
WASHINGTON – The Arizona Supreme Court Monday sided with two Phoenix women who said a city law aimed at preventing discrimination would have forced them to violate their Christian faith by creating custom invitations for same-sex weddings.
A narrow majority of the court said that the religious convictions of Brush & Nib owners Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski "may seem old-fashioned, or even offensive to some," but they are still covered by the Arizona Constitution's protection of free speech.

WASHINGTON-Rep. Greg Stanton and Rep. Greg Steube of Florida this week introduced a bipartisan bill to permanently extend security protection of Justices of the Supreme Court outside the Supreme Court grounds. Current law authorizes the Supreme Court Police to protect justices-however, the authority to protect them outside of Supreme Court grounds is temporary and set to expire at the end of this year.
