Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost today admitted that her agency does not have a policy that governs the actual physical act of separating a child from his or her parents, and that the agency did not consult with child trauma experts prior to executing an Administration policy that separated thousands of children from their families.

The astonishing admission came during questions from Rep. Greg Stanton during today's House Judiciary Committee's oversight hearing examining the Administration's family separation policy.

Rep. Greg Stanton today announced new appointments to his Congressional staff in his Washington, D.C. and district office in Phoenix.

?PHOENIX – The President's national emergency declaration to build a border wall could have a significant negative impact on Arizona's Luke Air Force Base, jeopardizing $40 million in construction projects slated to support the base's F-35 fighter program.

The Administration's plan calls for diverting funds from FY 2019 military construction projects "under a little-known statute that allows the defense secretary to undertake military construction projects 'not otherwise authorized by law' when they are in support of troops deployed in a national emergency."

In advance of this evening's expected vote on a bipartisan agreement to fund the federal government through the end of the year, Rep. Greg Stanton said he will vote for the plan. The first-term congressman also said the President's anticipated national emergency declaration is an unfortunate and dangerous precedent for our country.
"This bipartisan appropriations agreement is an example of what's possible when both parties sit down and work together-it shows that we can get things done," Stanton said.

"Mr. Chairman, thank you for holding this important hearing today to examine the impacts to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the recent 35-day partial government shutdown. I want to thank each of the witnesses for being here today and for sharing with us some of the impacts that resulted from the shutdown.

The government shutdown impacted 800,000 federal workers across the country and had an $11 billion impact on our economy according to the Congressional Budget Office.
