WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton will introduce a House Resolution next Monday to oppose President Trump's plan to impose a tariff starting at 5 percent on all goods from Mexico.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, a 5 percent tariff on Mexico's goods could create a tax increase of $17 billion for American consumers.

"It's easy to understand why there is so much bipartisan opposition to the President's plan," said Stanton. "This tariff amounts to a massive tax increase that only hurts Arizona businesses, workers and consumers."

On May 21, the House unanimously passed nine bills to support veterans-those measures will now move to the Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton today voted to pass the Dream Act of 2019, which will provide permanent protections for Dreamers, at today's House Judiciary Committee meeting. The committee passed the bill, which will now be considered by the House.

Greg Stanton will serve as an original co-sponsor to Savanna's Act, which addresses the epidemic of murdered and missing Indigenous women by creating new guidelines for responding to such cases, and by incentivizing their implementation. The bipartisan bill, named in honor of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, a 22-year old pregnant member of the Spirit Lake Tribe who was tragically murdered in August 2017, was introduced by Reps. Norma J. Torres (D-CA), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), and Deb Haaland (D-NM).

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The U.S. House of Representatives today passed H.R. 5, the historic Equality Act, to end discrimination against LGBTQ Americans. The bill extends the full anti-discrimination protections under federal civil rights laws to LGBTQ individuals regarding employment, education, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, housing and public accommodations.
Rep. Greg Stanton, a co-sponsor of the legislation, offered his support during debate this morning before the vote.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Energy today advanced by voice vote a bill introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton and Rep. Marc Veasey of Texas to reauthorize and increase funding for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

The block grant program provides grants to states, local governments, and Indian tribes to assist efforts to reduce fossil fuel emissions and conserve energy. The bill, H.R. 2088, would reauthorize the program and provide it with $3.5 billion annually for the next five years.
