WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Greg Stanton today was named co-chair of the New Democrat Coalition’s Healthcare Task Force.  The Task Force will work to create health care solutions such as stabilizing the individual markets and making health care more affordable.

“Soaring prescription drug costs and rising premiums continue to hurt Arizonans and prevent them from receiving the care they deserve,” Stanton said, who refused to take contributions from drug companies during his run for Congress. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Healthcare Task Force to take on this issue and move towards a healthcare system that works for everyone.”

The group will meet with constituents and health care experts to shape both short-term and long-term policy positions for the Coalition, and find ways to advance legislation that strengthens our economy.

“The New Dems reach across the aisle to get things done, and I’m ready to work in a bipartisan way to find commonsense policy solutions for some of the biggest challenges facing Americans,” Stanton said.

Reps. Angie Craig, Kurt Schrader, and Kim Schrier join Stanton as co-chairs of the Health Care Task Force. The New Democrat Coalition is made up of more than 100 Democrats committed to pro-economic growth, pro-innovation, and fiscally responsible policies.
