Arizonans understand the unique economic opportunities that come with being a border state.
Mexico has surpassed China as the United States’ top trading partner. By working together with our southern neighbor to address shared priorities related to water, energy and immigration, we continue strengthening Arizona’s economy and future. I helped finalize the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement for increased economic activity with our two largest trading partners. And my bill to improve intergovernmental cooperation with Mexico as we crack down on fentanyl trafficking just passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.
I’m also leading legislation in Congress to further develop the semiconductor supply chain and impose sanctions on petroleum imports from adversarial nations.

Doing business with Mexico and Canada is an essential part of the fabric of Arizona's economy.
Two-way trade with those two partners alone poured more than $20 billion into Arizona's economy in 2018 and supports nearly 230,000 jobs in our state. Our North American neighbors are the top two export destinations for Arizona products and services.

The long-awaited deal was welcomed across the political spectrum, but the announcement came just minutes after House Democrats also unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. House leadership announced this morning that an agreement has been reached to advance the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). During his freshman term, Rep. Greg Stanton has been pushing for an improved North American trade policy that would benefit Arizona's economy, and he previously urged a vote by the end of the year.

With only a few legislative days remaining for the United States House of Representatives in 2019, Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz., is urging his colleagues to focus on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement in the waning days of the year.
Stanton took to the House floor Wednesday to deliver a speech extolling the virtues of cross-border trade and its positive impact on Arizona.
WASHINGTON – A House committee gave preliminary approval Thursday to a bill that would add 20,000 farmworker visas and let some workers apply for permanent legal residency, despite Republican concerns that it could open the door to more illegal immigration.
The 18-12 vote Thursday by the House Judiciary Committee split on party lines that reflected four hours of debate, stretched over two days, on the Farm Workforce Modernization Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Rep. Greg Stanton advocated for Arizona businesses that rely on the Export-Import Bank today on the House floor ahead of a vote on H.R. 4863, which would reauthorize the bank for the next 10 years. Stanton is a cosponsor of the bill.
This week, Gov. Doug Ducey and U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton, along with trade expert Luis Ramirez, hosted a tele-town hall, which allowed Arizonans to call-in and ask questions.
The call centered around a discussion about the importance of the United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement (USMCA) as a vote potentially nears. Throughout the conference call, Ducey and Stanton encouraged Arizona citizens to contact their local congressional representatives and implore them to pass the agreement.
