An infrastructure grant to make much-needed improvements to the Scottsdale Airport's runway could be accelerated thanks to Rep. Greg Stanton's advocacy to the Federal Aviation Administration. Stanton has been working with Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega to elevate the airport's runway rehabilitation project to the FAA and make the case for releasing grant funds ahead of schedule.

Greg Stanton's bill to require all uniformed, on-duty U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) officers to utilize body-worn cameras passed the House today as part of the Emergency Security Supplemental to Respond to January 6th Appropriations Act. The bill provides $8.6 million to provide body cameras for Capitol Police officers whose job duties include interacting with the public.

Rep. Greg Stanton's bill to require all uniformed, on-duty U.S. Capitol Police officers to utilize body-worn cameras—introduced in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol—has been included as a part of the House's larger measure to boost security at the complex.

The Emergency Security Supplemental to Respond to January 6th Appropriations Act, introduced by House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro, includes $8.6 million to provide body cameras for Capitol Police officers whose job duties include interacting with the public.

Today, Rep. Greg Stanton announced more than $471 million in emergency funding for Arizona community colleges, universities, and students under the American Rescue Plan. Ten Arizona institutions will receive funding—Arizona State University will receive more than $191 million, and Mesa Community College will receive $31 million. More than half of the funds will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other hardships.
