WASHINGTON, D.C.-The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Wednesday advanced Arizona Rep. Greg Stanton's Extreme Weather and Heat Response Modernization Act in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. The legislation, introduced with Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada, would empower the Federal Emergency Management Agency to better address extreme heat and to provide communities with more resources, including cooling centers, to keep people safe during extreme heat events.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ) issued the following statement after Arizona election officials brought to light a decades-old administrative error that could prevent nearly 100,000 longtime residents from voting in down-ballot elections. These registered voters may not have provided the proof of citizenship required under a 2005 state law, but were miscategorized on the voter rolls because of a coding error by the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division.

Today, Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ) and Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) introduced a congressional resolution raising deep concerns with proposed constitutional reforms in Mexico that would radically reform the nation's judicial system. The reforms, spearheaded by outgoing Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, would allow citizens to vote on every single judge, appeals court member and justice all the way up to the Supreme Court.

TEMPE-Today, Rep. Greg Stanton announced that the City of Tempe will receive more than $12 million in federal funds through the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program-funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-to improve safety and visibility along a 3.9 mile stretch of Baseline Road that saw 35 fatal or serious-injury crashes between 2017 and 2021.

MESA-Rep. Greg Stanton today recognized members of the Mesa Police Department with a Congressional Commendation following a July 4th bust that removed 223 pounds of fentanyl from Arizona's streets. PHOENIX-Representatives Greg Stanton (AZ-04) and Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05) introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure communities impacted by extreme heat receive timely federal assistance. H.R. 9092, the Heat Management Grant Assistance Act, would amend the Stafford Act to provide federal assistance for extreme heat events, and create a special federal grant program for local communities to access needed resources for heat response and recovery.
