Stanton Issues Statement One Year After Arizona’s First COVID-19 Case
One year after Arizona’s first confirmed case of COVID-19, Rep. Greg Stanton issued the following statement. “The past year has been dark. We’ve lost more than 12,000 Arizonans to the coronavirus—family members, neighbors, colleagues and friends. More than 732,000 have been sick, many still suffering lingering side effects. So many of those deaths would have been preventable had there been quicker, science-driven strategic action.

Stanton-led Initiative Made Key Infrastructure Project Possible
Rep. Greg Stanton today announced that the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona will receive $900,000 in federal funds to build a critical water pipeline on the reservation that will boost water security for the community. The water pipeline will be funded through a key initiative Stanton fought to include in the 2020 Water Resources Development Act, which will ultimately provide $150 million for water infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. This is the first infrastructure project in the state to receive funding under the new initiative.

Phoenix-Mesa Area to Receive More Than $85 Million in Funds
Arizona’s transit industry will get more than $107 million in emergency funds provided by the most recent COVID-19 relief package—a priority for Rep. Greg Stanton who serves on the House Transportation Committee. The Phoenix-Mesa Urbanized Area—which Stanton represents—will receive $85,260,499 in funds for local transit systems, and an additional $756,544 to organizations that help meet the transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Stanton Calls Body Cameras ‘Imperative’ In Wake of Capitol Attack
Following Wednesday’s violent attack by domestic terrorists on the U.S. Capitol and the death of a Capitol Police officer and four others, Rep. Greg Stanton is pushing legislation to require all uniformed, on-duty Capitol Police officers to utilize body-worn cameras. He will introduce a bill proposing the requirement this week.

Ahead of Congress’s final consideration of the 2020 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), Rep. Greg Stanton hosted a roundtable with local leaders and other stakeholders to discuss the bill’s impact in Arizona communities. The bill unanimously passed the House of Representatives last week and included several provisions to benefit Arizona that were championed by Stanton.
