PHOENIX—Through his “Valentine’s for Vets” initiative, now in its 5th year, Rep. Greg Stanton delivered more than 1,000 cards hand-made by Mesa Public Schools students to veterans at the Arizona State Veteran Home on Monday.
“These are love letters to our veterans,” Stanton said after the visit. “It teaches these young people to have appreciation for our veterans.”
The Congressman also sent Valentine’s Day cards to the more than three dozen Arizona National Guard troops wounded last month in a drone attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. “A grateful state stands behind these brave women and men as they recover from their injuries,” Stanton said.
Additional photos from the visit are available HERE.
Stanton’s office invites Arizonans who wish to send messages of support to the Guard members to do so at the address below. In accordance with DoD policy and the Joint Ethics Regulations, direct donations cannot be accepted.
