Rep. Greg Stanton today released the following statement following House passage of the Inflation Reduction Act:

“With today’s vote, Congress has delivered on two long-kept promises: to cut drug costs for families and seniors and take meaningful action to protect our communities against climate change and drought.

“I have pushed hard to allow Medicare to use its negotiating power to lower prescription drug prices since my first day in Congress. It will save Arizona families and seniors millions of dollars—it’s the common-sense and right thing to do.

“And I’ve been a broken record calling for the federal government to take bold action to protect our water supply and the near and long-term health of the Colorado River. Arizona’s future depends on it.

“The Inflation Reduction Act accomplishes these goals and more. And it does all this by closing tax loopholes for the wealthy and making sure corporations pay their fair share, without raising taxes on those who make less than $400,000 a year.”
