Bill Advances Through Committee with Unanimous Support
Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unanimously advanced the Water Resources Development Act of 2020, which included several measures to benefit Arizona. The bipartisan package authorizes water resources projects through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and it now heads to the House floor.

Rep. Greg Stanton’s Southwest Tourism Expansion Act moved a significant step closer to becoming law today as it advanced as part of the House’s Fiscal Year 2021 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill. Stanton’s bill would create a pilot program to allow certain visitors from Mexico who already have permission to enter the United States to travel throughout the state of Arizona.

Rep. Greg Stanton has introduced a bill to require the use of body-worn cameras for law enforcement officers as a condition of eligibility for COPS grants. The COPS Accountability Act of 2020, H.R. 7150, would require state, local and tribal government agencies applying for COPS grants to show they have plans in place to put a body camera on every officer who conducts searches and makes arrests.

As Arizona surpassed 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases today, Rep. Greg Stanton urged State leaders to take three immediate actions to contain the disease: use federal CARES Act funds to expand lab capacity for additional testing and to speed up test results; develop and implement a written statewide contact tracing plan; and mandate face coverings statewide.
