To help protect seniors’ access to health care coverage, Rep. Greg Stanton called for an extension to the Federal Health Insurance Exchange Enrollment Period deadline. Stanton made the request yesterday in a letter to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma. The current deadline to enroll is December 7.

The U.S. House of Representatives today passed a bill cosponsored by Rep. Greg Stanton that will significantly help tribal nations with the financial burden of fighting COVID-19.
The FEMA Assistance Relief Act of 2020, H.R. 8266, eases COVID-19-related financial burdens on state, local, and tribal governments by increasing the federal cost share of FEMA assistance from 75 to 100 percent.

Rep. Greg Stanton led members of the Arizona Congressional delegation in a letter to the Office of Management and Budget calling for a 30-day extension of the comment period for a proposed U.S. Department of Homeland Security rule that would impact Arizona’s higher education institutions. The comment period is scheduled to close Oct. 26.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick, Ruben Gallego and Tom O’Halleran also signed onto the letter.

Congressman Greg Stanton today thanked Mayor Kate Gallego and the Phoenix City Council for making a $10.5 million investment to secure a new facility for US VETS-Phoenix, which currently houses 187 veterans experiencing homelessness in the Valley. Predictions suggest project could create 16,000 jobs
Recognizing the economic benefits of expanded rail access in Mesa, Rep. Greg Stanton is working with the City of Mesa to secure federal funding for its Pecos Industrialized Rail Access Train Extension (PIRATE) project. Mesa applied for a $24.4 million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to construct a new six-mile industrial freight rail track from the existing Union Pacific Railroad mainline through the Pecos Advanced Manufacturing Zone.
